FAQ

Is my data used to train AI models?

No — niil contracts Zero Data Retention with providers where supported, and discloses each model's retention posture in the picker. For the strictest guarantee, use self-hosted models. See Zero Data Retention.

Where is my data processed?

In the EU (or on self-hosted infrastructure). Organizations are restricted to EU-processed models by default. See EU sovereignty & residency.

Is my data encrypted?

Yes — messages, documents and connector credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and traffic uses TLS. See Encryption.

Which model should I pick?

Use Auto (Smart-Select) unless you have a specific need; it routes each prompt to a suitable EU model. See Choosing a model.

What's the difference between an agent and a workflow?

An agent is a single configured assistant you chat with or reuse. A workflow connects multiple steps/agents on a canvas into a process. A coordinator workflow has a lead agent that delegates to sub-agents. See Agents and Workflows.

Why can't I select a particular model?

Either its provider isn't configured (it shows as unavailable), or it's a non-EU model blocked by your organization's EU-only policy.

My agent answered without using its tools — why?

Tool use needs niil's runtime. If the runtime is unavailable, a tool-using turn fails with a message rather than silently answering without tools. Try again, or contact your operator if it persists.

How do I let a colleague use my workflow's chat?

Enable the interactive workflow and share the chat widget link. See Interactive workflows.

How do I get my data out, or delete it?

Use the export/erase controls in your profile; erasure crypto-shreds the content. See Data protection & GDPR.

Do I have to use Stripe?

Only if billing is enabled by your operator. Stripe is EU-hosted and is the sole external vendor; niil runs without it. See No external vendors.
